It was in the early 1980’s, Carol and I were “people of the Book” dedicating our lives to provide God’s Word to the Poqomam people. We were breaking down the barrier of language, so that people could read for themselves, and be confronted with God’s love and grace—in the language that best speaks to their heart.

A Sunday School teacher training event in Colombia was well attended with 140 teachers in person and 50 on Zoom. Perhaps even more significant are ongoing relationships with young Colombian women, inspired to disciple children in their context and train others with what they have learned.

José Abel, Viña's director, as well as board members Rick & Carol McArthur, attended a four-day conference focusing on: Scripture, Media, Distribution and Community. There were 178 in attendance from 70 ministries, 15 countries, and 40 indigenous language communities from Mexico, Central America and South America.

Deditos has offered a unique, fresh approach to children’s ministry by incorporating video, dialogue, and activities rooted in deep theological truths not always explored in traditional Sunday school materials.

“We supported Deditos to share God’s Word with indigenous children, never imagining the huge blessing it would be for our own children at a time when they needed God’s Word so much.”

At Viña we love to hear back from those who are using the materials we produce. One of the most frequent refrains we hear is some variation of: “It’s in my language!” Over and over again, from people in different countries—it is in our language!

It was about 5:00 AM when we landed in a city of 16 million inhabitants. Even though two friends were waiting for us, I couldn’t help but feel vulnerable in the face of so many unknowns.
