About Deditos

Twenty years ago at Viña Association, the Guatemalan staff asked the Wycliffe missionary they were working with,

“Why aren’t we making anything for children?”

Their shared vision was to create biblical resources in audio and video formats for the Mayan people. But everything was geared towards adults.

In Guatemala, children account for one third of the population. Few biblical materials exist for these children, especially if they belong to small or marginalized language groups.

An idea was born to create Bible story videos with fingers, using miniature sets and local actors.

“We started making the videos for our own people, but quickly realized the potential for dubbing and sharing them in different languages.”

Now, twenty years later, Deditos is known and used on several continents and the audio has been dubbed (changed) into over forty languages by a number of partner ministries.

The success of the series is attributed to the high production quality and solid biblical content. Because the Deditos series is produced in Guatemala by a multicultural team, it has a distinct international flavor which is ideal for children around the world.
